ASTER BARN

When our clients first approached us, they had a clear vision — a home that felt calm, grounded, and deeply connected to nature. They wanted the warmth of a traditional barn silhouette, but interpreted through a refined Scandinavian lens. The brief called for a practical 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom layout within a modest 36x44 footprint, approximately 1,580–1,600 square feet (147–149 m²), with open living spaces for gathering and private zones thoughtfully separated for comfort. Most importantly, they asked for a home that felt timeless rather than trend-driven — simple, honest materials paired with clean architectural lines.

In response, we designed a Scandinavian barn house defined by strong gable rooflines, vertical light-toned cladding, black metal roofing, and natural timber detailing at the porch — creating a welcoming yet understated exterior presence. Inside, the open-concept living, kitchen, and dining area became the heart of the home, intentionally proportioned to feel expansive without excess. The primary suite was positioned for privacy, complete with a walk-in closet and ensuite bath, while two additional bedrooms offer flexibility for children, guests, or a future home office. Every square foot was carefully considered to ensure efficiency, natural light flow, and seamless day-to-day functionality.

A home where mornings begin with soft natural light filtering through black-framed windows, where gatherings center around a warm, minimalist kitchen, and where simplicity enhances rather than limits comfort. This 36x44 Scandi Barn is a studio-crafted response to a client’s desire for balance — modern yet familiar, minimal yet inviting, compact yet spacious in experience.
