SKOV HOUSE

Envisioned as a serene woodland retreat, Skov House was designed for a client seeking a refined, nature-immersed residence that prioritizes spatial quality over excess square footage. At 1,017 square feet, this 1-bedroom, 1-bath home embraces the philosophy of intentional living — delivering openness, warmth, and architectural clarity within a carefully composed footprint. The brief called for a dramatic living volume, strong visual connection to the surrounding landscape, and a material palette rooted in natural textures.

The architectural form is defined by two intersecting gable volumes clad in vertical timber, contrasted with deep black standing seam roofing and accent panels. A double-height glazed façade anchors the main living area, drawing natural light deep into the interior while framing panoramic woodland views. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space flows seamlessly toward the outdoor terrace, creating an effortless indoor–outdoor relationship. The bedroom suite is positioned for privacy within the secondary volume, complemented by a well-appointed bathroom and integrated storage solutions that maintain clean sightlines throughout.

Inside, Skov House balances Scandinavian restraint with contemporary warmth. Wood-paneled surfaces, minimalist detailing, and controlled lighting establish a cohesive and calming atmosphere. The result is a home that feels both grounded and elevated — modest in scale yet expansive in experience. Skov House represents a disciplined architectural response to modern retreat living, where proportion, material authenticity, and connection to nature define the spatial narrative.
