WREN HOUSE

Wren House was conceived as a contemporary family residence that balances openness, privacy, and functionality within a modular framework. The client’s brief called for a home that could accommodate everyday family life, dedicated workspaces, generous outdoor living areas, and integrated garage parking, while maintaining a strong architectural identity rooted in simplicity and restraint.

The design combines eight 40-foot containers and six 20-foot containers into a composition of offset volumes organized around clear spatial hierarchies. The ground floor is dedicated to shared living, dining, and kitchen functions alongside guest and family bedrooms, while the upper level accommodates the primary suite, office, lounge, and an elevated terrace overlooking the property.

A key design objective was to maximize natural light and establish a strong connection between the interior and the surrounding landscape. Expansive glazing, large sliding openings, and covered outdoor spaces extend the living areas beyond the building envelope, creating a seamless relationship between architecture and site.

Materially, the project embraces the honesty of container construction while introducing a refined residential character through dark steel cladding, warm timber soffits, and carefully proportioned openings. The result is a home that moves beyond the conventional language of container architecture—an efficient, modern residence shaped by clarity of planning, disciplined detailing, and a considered response to the way its occupants live.
